Ministry of Culture of Montenegro

The Coordinator of the Network in Montenegro is the Ministry of Culture. Their activities are developed in the following thematic areas:

- Development and enhancement of culture and artistic creativity in Montenegro,

- safeguarding and protection of Montenegrin cultural heritage,

- supporting cultural projects and institutions,

- relevant legislation adoption in the field of culture and monitoring of the implementation,

- monitoring research in the field of culture.

To date, the Network in Montenegro is considerably growing and brings together 28 members who works in diverse fields such as youth, culture, etc.

The Foundation provides logistical and operational support to the National Network in Montenegro through the Network Strategic Development Scheme (NSDS). For more information, please refer to the document “NSDS Step 4” under Resources column on the right. This document highlights the main responsibilities and services to be provided by the Network Coordinator for the members until 31 August 2011.

Project: Within the Cities; Call for submissions of short film and video from Euro Med region for the DVD edition.

The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Republic of Venice and the Venetian influence remains dominant among the architectural influences. The Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska), one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea, is sometimes called the southern-most fjord in Europe (though it is actually a submerged river canyon). With the nearly overhanging limestone cliffs of Orjen and Lovćen one of the great Mediterranean landscapes is created.

Montenegrin ALF National Network is implementing a project entitled “Within the Cities –  digital storytelling of the Euro – Med region”. This project supported by the Anna Lindh Foundation and Ministry of Culture of Montenegro, aims to improve perceptions about the social and cultural diversity in the Cities of Euro- Mediterranean region through a promotion of creative potential and personal artistic expressions of the youth.

In the framework of “Within the Cities” project, a group of creative Montenegrin youth (14 -25 yrs.) is currently attending filmmaking workshops and preparing their amateur short films and videos exploring the issue of social and cultural diversity. Their short films and videos shall be published in a form of DVD.

Apart from Montenegrin short films and videos, the DVD selection shall include a short films and videos of creative youth from Euro Mediterranean countries. DVD with selection of the best short films and videos shall be presented in the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro on 15th of September 2011. and promoted internationally as a cross-section of perceptions of social and cultural diversity, in the context of promoting social integration and sending the message of coexistence.

If you are an author of a short film or video from one of the 43 countries of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, and would like your work to be included in the DVD, please send a copy of your short film or video, along with the Application Form, by no later than 10th of August 2011 on the following address:

Terms of participation:

Deadline:Short films and videos must arrive to Montenegro before the 10th of August 2011.

Theme: Thematic focus is set on exploring social and cultural diversity of Euro Mediterranean region through personal perceptions and visions of everyday life in cities, multicultural population of our cities, daily practices and activities, lifestyles of the societies and communities, models of coexistence, diverse traditions and beliefs.

Genre: Documentary, experimental, artistic, animated, reportage.

Duration: Short films and videos shell not last longer than 5 minutes.

Language: Short films and videos in all languages with English subtitles.
