Values and Governance

The values of the Anna Lindh Foundation are those assumed by the Euromed Partnership from the Barcelona Declaration (1995) to the Paris Summit (2008): pluralism, cultural diversity, mutual respect between societies, religions and beliefs, rule of law and fundamental freedoms.

The Foundation is funded in equal parts by the member states and by the European Commission, which has an observer status at the Board. It works under the principles of good governance, in full respect of good financial management and in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

Our Board of Governors, composed by representatives of all the countries of the ‘Union for the Mediterranean’, appoints the President, the Executive Director and the Advisory Council. As well as the election of the Chair, Muhyieddeen Touq (Jordan) and Deputy Chair, Lars Bjarme (Sweden), those appointments must comply with the diversity of the Euromed region.

The same policy applies for the constitution of the Secretariat, located in Alexandria, and composed of a staff of young women and men coming from different countries of the Euromed area.

The President of the Foundation is André Azoulay (Morroco) and the Executive Director is Andreu Claret (Spain).
