LAUGHING TOGETHER = LIVING TOGETHER

General Information
Leading Organisation/Person:
CONCEPTION
Type of best practice:
Publication
Brief description:

Humour as a means of bringing people together, was the main concept; if we can laugh together, we feel good together, we understand each other (better). The programme was created during workshops, together with young people from different nationalities. A professional scriptwriter wrote the script and professional filmmakers shot it. The actors were a mix of professionals and youngsters.

Main Objectives:

The DVD should be shown in a closed environment. It should be briefly introduced, but not explained beforehand. The purpose is that pupils/young people are surprised, maybe a bit confused, maybe even a (little) provoked or shocked (though the material is not shocking at all). Above all the viewers should be amused.
After having watched the DVD questions will arise, a conversation (or discussion) will start. The adult will explain the context of the jokes (if necessary). He will ask the pupils to express their appreciation, thoughts and feelings.
In the end people from different nationalities will have had a pleasant time and will (probably) understand each other in a slightly different way.
