Brief description:

Two workshops have been organised for youths, aged 13 – 16 and 17 – 21 respectively.
These youths hailing from the different communities in Malta have been stimulated to
reflect on their thoughts of what intercultural dialogue means to them and their experience of it in their daily life. They have collaborated in order to produce their own personal expression, in the form of brief poetry or other forms of writing.
The ‘words’ they produced have been transformed into two public installations which have been set up using projections and boards. The first event took place on the 22nd May 2008, during the Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue Night, in Birgu.
Following to that, in September, the project has been included in Norbert Attard’s
installation titled ‘Where are you from?’ in Freedom Square - Valletta where the works
were visible till January 2009.

Beneficiaries:

50 active participants + wider audience (public dissemination) consisting of 4 months of people passing by Freedom Square in Valletta.

Main Outcomes:

The tangible outcomes of the action were mainly 3:
1. Creative written forms of poetry or prose by young people, following the workshops.
2. Photo projection of the written material on the wall for a form of local dissemination in Birgu.
3. Printing of the written material on big boards hanging in main square/entrance to Valletta,Malta capital city.
The intangible outcomes were mainly linked to an awareness raising activity, involving
youths through active participation and interaction. The youths were enthusiast and very proud of the results.
There was also a wider dissemination effect, due to the long visibility given to the boards in one of the main squares of Valletta.
