Euromed Musicians to perform in Jerusalem and the West Bank in favour of peace and cultural dialogue. From 27 June to 11 July, more than 40 outstanding musicians from 10 different Euromed countries will perform and meet with their audiences in Jerusalem, in order to experience a transcultural dialogue between Europe and the Middle East with refined chamber music.
The Fifth Edition Sounding Jerusalem Festival, taking place during two whole weeks in the entire region of Jerusalem, the West Bank as well as in Israel, will include 17 concerts of the highest artistic level. The Festival, which is organised with the financial support of the Anna Lindh Foundation as well as other partners, aims at promoting peace through abolishing social, religious, and cultural prejudice; fostering the intercultural dialogue between individuals from Israel, Palestine and Central Europe as well as giving equal access and participation to cultural events for people living in Palestine and Israel.
“It is my utmost pleasure to organise the fifth edition of the SOUNDING JERUSALEM festival – a music festival dedicated for all people living in Jerusalem and the region around, irrespective of their ethnic, social and religious affiliation” said Erich Oskar Huetter, the artistic director of the Festival.
Believing that access to high quality level of arts and culture has to be possible for everyone, the organisers decided to make Admission to all concerts free for the general public. The concerts are performed at extraordinary venues of the Old City of Jerusalem as well as historical sights of small Palestinian villages in the Westbank, the Mount of Temptation in Jericho and at atmospheric places in West Jerusalem.
