During his participation in a panel debate, on October 26 in Tel Aviv, about Middle East Peace Process, André Azoulay, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, said that the Arab Peace Initiative was an opportunity that the Israeli public must understand, warning that the current opportunity could be lost if not taken advantage of, reported the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
The conference marks the Tenth Anniversary of Peres Center for Peace, which offers a unique place where Muslims and Jews, Israeli and Palestinians actually meet and undertake concrete projects together. During his intervention, André Azoulay stressed that the Arab mainstream sees Israel as the party responsible for preventing peace, not the Arabs. While speaking about the Arab Peace Initiative, Azoulay said: "This is something that the Israelis hoped for, ten years ago. But who knows about it in Israel today? … The momentum will not last forever. This is a dangerous situation. Tomorrow something could happen in the West Bank and blow the whole deal, and we'll have to wait again," he urged.
