A special gathering entitled “Non-Violent Day for the Arab Region” will be organised on the 4th of June in Beirut by the “Lebanese Association for Civil Rights – LACR”, the “Academic University for Non-Violence and Human Rights in the Arab World – AUNOHR”, and in cooperation with the partner organization IKV PAX Christi – Netherlands,
and the support of Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF),
 

The event will crown the closure of the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World (2001-2010) adopted by the United Nations in response to the appeal of 20 Nobel peace prize laureates, who insisted to urge the societies and countries on the priority of upbringing the children and youth to the culture of non-violence.

Fortunately, during this decade, hundreds of initiatives, groups and thousands of activities and creations with tens of millions of signatures were achieved.
And in Lebanon and the Arab Region, two prominent events will take place: the first is the establishment of a University for non-violence for the entire Arab world, enclosing in its Board of Trustees two figures of the holders of Nobel Peace Prize that are signatories to the call of the decade; and the second is the launching of non-violent civil Arab movement based on years of communication and human relations as well as specialization in the non-violent educational and political skills and rooted in associations, schools, universities, non-sectarian initiatives, national struggles and youth work.

The event in Beirut will take place at the UNESCO Palace.
