Intercultural Encounters between the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe

From 16 to 29 May 2010, over 20 Euromed students, active young professionals, as well as young leaders will come together in Valmiera, Latvia to participate in a two weeks International summer school.

The project is granted by the Anna Lindh Foundation in the framework of the its call for proposals and is organized by Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, member of the Anna Lindh Latvian Network, in collaboration with other member organisations from Egypt, Tunisia and Lithuania.

The main objective is to mutually introduce cultures of two regions; the Mediterranean area and Eastern Europe by blending academic teaching methods with social activities and allowing the participants to create the most effective environment to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills while dealing in intercultural encounters.

Furthermore, the project will contribute in fostering understanding and enhancing the interest of participants in intercultural dialogue and elaborating future projects between Eastern Europe and Mediterranean regions.

A study material in a CD format on intercultural communication and Eastern European and Mediterranean region cultures will be produced after the summer school with the aim to fill in the existing knowledge gaps for the target audiences.
