A European parliamentary delegation headed by Beatrice Patrie met Friday 28 November with representatives from the Anna Lindh Foundation in its Headquarters in Alexandria, Egypt.
During the meeting, the members of the delegation discussed the role of the Anna Lindh Foundation in promoting dialogue between cultures in the Euromed region and in facilitating the participation of civil society organizations in the "Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean". The discussion focused on the Foundation's priorities during the next phase mainly the launch of the Foundation's Observatory of intercultural dialogue in the region as well as its flag-ship projects in the field of Culture, Media and Education.
The four days visit to Egypt is taking place within the framework of the ninth rotating parliamentary meeting between the European Parliament and Egypt. The delegation visited a number of EU funded projects and also met with Egyptian officials like the President of the People’s Assembly, Dr Fathi Sorour, the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Mustapha El Fikhi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Mohamed Tantawi, as well as Boutros Boutros Ghali, President of the National Council for Human Rights in Egypt.
