On the 18th of June, an artistic laboratory on creating and transmitting knowledge to craft and artistic communities of migrant and local women will take place in the Tunisian city Sejnane.

Granted by the Anna Lindh Foundation in the framework of its call for proposals, LAAROUSSA (The Doll in Arabic) is a factory and space for cultural creation which started in February and will take place till the month of June 2011 between two Tunisian cities, Sejnane and Tunis, in partnership with France, the group La Luna, the Tunisian women of  Sejnane and the French women of Nantes. The project consists of spaces of exchange around modes of artistic interventions and experiences on craft through the involvement of local communities and migrants.

Three women's communities are supported by these meeting of socio-cultural productions: The potters of Sejnane, the seamstresses of Arlene and the population of migrant women from Sub-Saharan Africa in Tunis.

Laaroussa forges links between craftsmanship and contemporary art around a universal object which is the Doll, by enabling the exchange of experience between women from Tunisia and France.
