The Anna Lindh Foundation’s granted project "Rights of individuals with disabilities in tourism, recreation and cultural exchange", is holding one of its preparatory activities today in Alexandria with the selection of the best artistic performances from all over Egypt.

The project, carried on by Caritas - Egypt Center for Training and studies on disability which is member of the Anna Lindh Egyptian Network, aims to strengthen and promote cultural exchange, tourism and recreation between individuals with disabilities by providing training to a number of working groups from associations and centers operating in the field of disability in different Euromed countries.

Recently four workshops took place in Alexandria on handicrafts, drawing and painting, recreational activities and sports as well as theater. The best outcomes of the workshops will be presented at the artistic event today, during which 12 groups from different associations from all over Egypt will present their work in the field of Art.

The best Egyptian groups will be selected to participate in a one week international camp taking place at the beginning of July in Alexandria and with the participation of different groups of disabled persons coming from Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia and France.

The one week camp will conclude by organising a major Festival to be held in Alexandria in July 2010, including artistic performances, and activities that reflect the cultural heritage of the various countries involved in the project.
