The National Library is a public institution of an administrative and financial nature, and is a legal corporate body. It has a global workforce of 41 people, including a managing director, a deputy managing director, and several heads of services.
Budgetary means: State subsidy.
We are counting on our foreign partners, in order to be able to digitize the contents of our National Library.
The NL is a member of the IFLA, of the UNAL – the Unesco Network of Associated Libraries, and of the network of Francophone Libraries
The National Library’s mission:
- To collect, conserve and circulate the national heritage in print
- Establish a national bibliography
- Available reading for the public
It is decentralised through regional branches; at the moment there are 7 of them.
