The Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO is the national entity that is responsible to liaise between UNESCO and the official national institutions in Lebanon. It is also the national coordinator of the Lebanese Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation. Further to its coordination role, it organizes and conducts conferences, seminars and workshops in the field of education, science, culture and information. Other fields of interest include: arts, democracy and community development, environment and sustainable development as well as gender, human rights and religion.
The Anna Lindh Foundation funded 18 projects involving Lebanese members and more than 50 persons have benefited from ALF training activities.
The Foundation provides logistical and operational support to the National Network in Lebanon through the Network Strategic Development Scheme (NSDS). For more information, please refer to the document “NSDS Step 4” under Resources column on the right. This document highlights the main responsibilities and services to be provided by the Network Coordinator for the members until 31 August 2011.

To date, the Lebanese network consists of 94 organizations. Most of these institutions work in the areas of education, youth, arts, heritage, environment, democracy, human rights, religious issues, media, conflict resolution, libraries, publishing and research.
