Institute of International Relations

The Head of Anna Lindh National Network in the Czech republic is the Institute of International Relations, which works in the fields of international political, security and economic relations. At the same time, the Institute provides for the international communication and dissemination of knowledge acquired by Czech researchers and experts.

The research of the Institute covers the Balkans, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and North Africa as well as the Sub-Saharan Africa, while these areas are studied mainly in relation to the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy.

To date, the Czech network consists of 37 members. Most of these institutions work in the areas of youth, international relations, research and museology.

The Foundation provides logistical and operational support to the National Network in Czech Republic through the Network Strategic Development Scheme (NSDS). For more information, please refer to the document “NSDS Step 4” under Resources column on the right. This document highlights the main responsibilities and services to be provided by the Network Coordinator for the members until 31 August 2011.

Winner of Euro-Med Award in Prague

At the end of April Czech network of ALF have the great opportunity to welcome in Prague winners of Euro-Mediterrannean award 2009 – Combatants for Peace. It was for us great honor not only because the award but at the first place because the activity of this organization. Middle East theme is very important not only for our network but also for Czech audience and public and we are glad to be able to introduce Combatants to our members and public. We welcomed two representatives of CfP – Mr. Avi Yehouda and Mr. Suleiman Khatib.

„Reconstruction of cultural heritage in Iraq and the help of the Czech Republic“

Cultural heritage in Iraq

Presentation by: Mgr. Miroslav Houska, Manager of the Middle East and North African Projects of GEMA ART GROUP, a. s. and Mgr. Jan Urban, New York University in Prague,

Within the Czech aid to post-war reconstruction of Iraq several projects was realized. Their realization built recognition and respect of public and experts in Iraq and also in the World. The main projects were realized in the field of cultural heritage of Iraq that is very often said to be the cradle of civilizations.
Realization of this post-war state aid, which ended in 2006, was in competency of Gema Aft Group, a. s.. This company stays in Iraq and from the year 2007 is accredited as foreign element for realization Iraqis project of reconstruction.
