The project idea:
The historical buildings are one of the most evidence of human history and his culture.
The big difference between architectural Patterns and forms of Historical buildings is a natural result of the different cultures and Prevailing customs and traditions.
The Project depend on the idea of cultural exchange through the exchange of preserving historical building experiences in the project partner countries,
The project finished with the establishment of regional permanent forum encourages cultural exchange between countries, through the definition of the architectural heritage of each country.
The Leader:
Center for architectural Heritage (CAH) was established in Islamic University of Gaza in 2000, The Center aims to preserve the architectural heritage, and to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the architectural heritage. it also aims to train professionals in the methods of restoration and preservation of the architectural heritage. and regulates many programs like exhibitions, study days, conferences, scientific researches, projects, and training programs. Objectives:
Overall objective of the project
The main objective of the project is to encourage and promote cultural exchange and civilizations dialogue, through the exchange of preserving historical building experiences, which is considered as the most important culture indicators.
Specific objectives of the project:
Increase the cultural exchange by comparing the items of architectural heritage, through Joint research which carried out by the trainee team from the project partners' countries
Establish regional permanent forum to encourage the cultural exchange in the field of architectural heritage between Euro-Mediterranean countries
(It will be based in the case study building in the third Part of the project)
Identify to the different global experiences in the preservation of cultural architectural heritage.
Identify at the partners countries cultures, through living a limited period in this country, according to a specific program for this purpose
Target groups:
Direct target group
Young graduates of architectural and civil engineering, and Archaeology department.
Indirect target groups:
1. The category of academics and interested in preserving architectural heritage.
2. The category of craftsmen and worker in the field of architectural preservation
3. Cultural and the relevant interest institutions.
Main activities:
The first part: (training and studies)
First Phase: historical studies of the building:
The working group will work to prepare studies for the other country culture and heritage, which lead them to know other country civilization
Phase of urban studies:
This phase is considering the most important changes that have occurred on the building throughout the history, and the most important figures that lived in it, and it’s architectural value in the social sphere,
The third phase: diagnosis the damages in the building
The Fourth Phase: the other studies, environmental and structural studies.
Second Part: Architectural documentation of the building,
The training in Documentation process will increases opportunities for cultural exchange.
Third Part: restoration of one historical building in Gaza old City,
Partnership in this part of the project has a significant impact on the promotion of cultural exchanges with countries which differ in their experiences and philosophy of the preservation and restoration.
Fourth Part: joint workshops to present the results of research studies
The participants of the working group will prepare a joint research studies during the project phases, which will be presented and discussed in the joint workshops.
