Résumé

This working paper provides an overview of the development of women's and gender policy in Austria. The implementation of equality for women as a contribution to social change is also essential for teaching - the brochure provides suggestions for the social debate and for use in schools. From contributions on women's suffrage in international comparison and ideas of "morality" in the post-war period, it covers topics such as the wearing of headscarves, forced marriage and a project to sensitise young men to gender issues.

By linking historical developments with current phenomena, from women's suffrage to the women's referendum 2.0, the publication aims to help make gender history and gender politics tangible as key aspects of social progress - which always has to be implemented in the face of resistance.
