The National Heritage Foundation strives, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, and in cooperation with public and private organizations, to arouse and to bring together all efforts for the safeguard, protection and preservation of the Lebanese heritage.
The Foundation is working on raising awareness, on the enormous dangers threatening our environment and heritage.
The Foundation’s objectives are:
• to advocate a better understanding of the national heritage and the dangers threatening it;
• to contribute to the restoration and conservation of sites and buildings of archeological and historical importance;
• to preserve, develop and revive the artistic and cultural heritage, crafts, traditions and customs, the natural and living heritage being flora and fauna, open spaces, green areas and forests;
• to rehabilitate the “forgotten history” of the national heritage: sites, collections.
• to assign a social function to the cultural and natural heritage, as well as to its values;
• to organize conferences and seminars in order to identify adequate judicial, technical, administrative and financial measures for the protection and preservation of the heritage;
• to encourage and finance research whose result will allow people to better value their heritage and develop specific strategies for its conservation and protection
