Over the weekend of the 18th to 19th June 2010, Alexandria will play host to a festival of cultural activities which will bring together representatives from all twenty-seven European Union Member Countries as well as musicians and artists across the two shores of the Mediterranean. Timed to celebrate the start of summer, the initiative aims to allow people in Alexandria and the wider Egypt to experience the different cultures and opportunities from across Europe and the Mediterranean Region, and is being supported by a range of partners, including the Delegation of the European Union in Egypt, the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation, the Goethe Institute, the French Cultural Centre the Turkish Consulate as well as the members states of the European Union. During the festival event, people will have the opportunity to taste traditional food and drinks from all around Europe, participate in a first joint performance of hip-hop artists from France, Germany, Turkey and Egypt, watch together live World Cup football, and learn more about the various opportunities offered by institutions in Egypt ranging from international mobility to cultural and learning experiences. In addition, the performance of the hip-hop international artists, named "Hip Hop Connection", will be presented as well on the 19th June in Cairo at the Sawy Cultrewheel Center.
