From 1 to 4 October 2009, over 50 activists and experts working in the field of arts and culture gathered in the Greek Island, Rhodes to discuss the role of Arts in promoting intercultural dialogue within the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Hold under the theme “Creativity, Mobility and Dialogue”, the meeting paved the way to a new working approach of the Anna Lindh Foundation based on "thinking, sharing and building" together an intercultural policy built on reflection, exchange of know-how and common actions, in cooperation with the highest number possible of ALF partners, for a truly participatory event responding to civil society needs.
The event, organized in cooperation with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture (ALF Head of Network in Greece) and the FAM Network (Pan-Mediterranean Women's Creators Network), aimed to provide a space for debate and exchange of ideas and best-practices in the fields of Creativity, Mobility and Intercultural Dialogue and was composed of five main working sessions including:
- “Arts & Education”: which focused on artistic research, carried out during residences and in collaboration with Art Universities;
- “Media”: discussing the role of the internet, e-newsletters, on-line platforms and blogs in facilitating access to culture.
- “Mobility”: focusing on mobility funds and other resources to support mobility of artists and cultural operators in the Euro-Med region.
- “Networks”: discussing the development and building of cultural networks and platforms in the Euro-Med region.
- “Translation”: on the importance of and challenges in translation in the intercultural dialogue.
The outcomes of the five working groups served as recommendations for topics addressed during the "Anna Lindh Forum 2010".
