‘Sharing and Evaluating Practices in the field of Diversity and Intercultural Dialogue’

n the framework of the collaboration between the Anna Lindh Foundation and the Council of Europe in the field of teacher training and youth activities in the Euro-Mediterranean region, a workshop entitled ‘Sharing and Evaluating Practices in the field of Diversity and Intercultural Dialogue’ will take place in Alexandria, Egypt, from the 7th to 11th July 2008.

Coming after three years of a successful teacher training programme designed to introduce intercultural and inter-religious dialogue as well as linguistic awareness, democratic citizenship, pluralism in history teaching, etc. at the level of schools and out-of-school educational structures in the Euro-Mediterranean region and whose audience evolved gradually up to more than 500 teachers and teacher trainers, this specific workshop aims at highlighting the gained expertise and added value of the cooperation through sharing examples of achievements and best practices.

During three days in the Swedish Institute in Alexandria, the workshop will gather 28 active teachers, social workers, education specialists, professional trainers and contributors all members of the Anna Lindh Foundation national networks and conveyed together after they attended other trainings organised by the Anna Lindh Foundation and/or the Council of Europe and developed follow-up activities of particular interest for the evaluation and future steps of the programme.

Based on the participants preliminary contributions to the workshop, compiled in a set of best practices in the Euromed region, the discussions will focus on identifying their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT analysis), finding ways of becoming better “change agents” and elaborating plans for the future of the collaborative work.

This activity enters the frame of the celebration of the Euro-Mediterranean Year for Dialogue (2008).
