The concert is being facilitated by the Euro-Mediterranean institution ‘Anna Lindh Foundation’ and will take place in the presence of Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and Amre Moussa, Secretary General of the Arab League, as well as over one thousand participants including representatives of Egyptian civil society, leading intellectuals, opinion-makers and Arab Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

The seed for this event was planted at the Arab League-EU Ministerial held in Malta back in February 2008 where an agreement was established to reinforce relations across economic, political and cultural fields, a cooperation which is recognised as more essential than ever in the context of recent events within the region.
