ALF is highlighting a number of activities

During the month of July, the ALF is highlighting a number of activities aiming at promoting cultural dialogue within the Euromed region. The activities are organized by local NGOs in Egypt, Morocco and Lebanon in the framework of the ALF Campaign "1001 Actions for Dialogue".

In Egypt, and during the whole month of July the Egyptian NGO "OFOK AlTanmia" is organizing 'International Culture Days' which is an opportunity to deepen understanding on values of cultural diversity and to learn to “live together”. OFOK continues to promote greater awareness of the crucial relationship between culture and development and the important role of information and communication technologies in this relationship.

In Lebanon, the association "Offre Joie" is organizing from 15 to 26 July an activity for Lebanese children. The project "Enfants de tout le Liban" (Children from all over Lebanon) will consist of a number of educative excursions to different regions in Lebanon, during which the children will get to know their country.

From 11 to 25 July, the Moroccan association " Association des jeunes méditerranéens pour le développement au Rif " will gather 50 young people during its activity entitled "Rencontre EURO BERBERO MÉDITERRANÉENNE des Jeunes". For 2 weeks, the group will meet on a round table where they will share their own cultural heritage, arts, traditions and habits. Other activities will also be organized in the Rif mountains with local Moroccan tributes, with the aim of restoring a school for the village. The young people will contribute in the restauration works. This is an occasion for young people to discover the heritage of the region.

These projects are among many hundereds of projects organized in 2008 throughout the Euromed region, in the framework of the "1001 Actions for Dialogue" campaign, launched by the Anna Lindh Foundation to celebrate the year 2008, European year for intercultural dialogue.
