The Anna Lindh Foundation in partnership with Literature Across Frontiers will organize a reading for stories from the heart of Europe on Friday 30 January at the Conference Centre, Bibliotheca Alexandrina at 7 p.m.
The reading will include the famous writings of Jan Balabán and Stanislav Beran (Czech Republic), Margit Halász and Szilárd Podmanitzky (Hungary), Pawel Huelle and Daniel Odija (Poland), Karol Horváth and Ursula Kovalyk (Slovakia). The authors and editors visit Cairo and Alexandria to launch Stories from the heart of Europe, a new anthology of short stories translated into Arabic and published by Sphinx.
Stories from the Heart of Europe is a project of the Ministries of Culture of the countries supported by the Visegrad Fund and edited by Pál Bekés and Ina Martinová (chief editors), with Ivory Rodriguez and Piotr Marciszuk. The programme is organised by the Centre for Information on Slovak Literature, Literature Across Frontiers, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Anna Lindh Foundation, Sphinx and the Embassies of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia in Egypt.
