As part of the preparation for Forum 2010, the Anna Lindh Foundation and partners hosted in Rhodes, Greece, a meeting on cultural production.
From 1 to 4 October 2009, over 50 activists and experts working in the field of arts and culture will gather in the Greek Island, Rhodes to discuss the role of Arts in promoting intercultural dialogue within the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Hold under the theme “Creativity, Mobility and Dialogue”, the meeting will pave the way to a new working approach of the Anna Lindh Foundation based on "thinking, sharing and building" together an intercultural policy built on reflection, exchange of know-how and common actions, in cooperation with the highest number possible of ALF partners, for a truly participatory event responding to civil society needs.
The event, which is organized in cooperation with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture (ALF Head of Network in Greece) and the FAM Network (Pan-Mediterranean Women's Creators Network), aims to provide a space for debate and exchange of ideas and best-practices in the fields of Creativity, Mobility and Intercultural Dialogue and will be composed of five main working sessions including:
- “Arts & Education”: which will focus on artistic research, carried out during residences and in collaboration with Art Universities;
- “Media”: discussing the role of the internet, e-newsletters, on-line platforms and blogs in facilitating access to culture.
- “Mobility”: focusing on mobility funds and other resources to support mobility of artists and cultural operators in the Euro-Med region.
- “Networks”: discussing the development and building of cultural networks and platforms in the Euro-Med region.
- “Translation”: on the importance of and challenges in translation in the intercultural dialogue.
The event is one of the first preparatory meetings for the Anna Lindh Forum 2010, which will gather more than 600 members of the ALF civil society network, in Barcelona (Spain) in March 2010. The Forum aims to give new momentum to the cooperation among civil society organizations committed to intercultural dialogue in the region and to increase its impact on the establishment of the Union for the Mediterranean while enriching the activities of the national networks and the work of the Foundation.
The outcomes of the five working groups will serve as recommendations for topics to be addressed during the "Anna Lindh Forum 2010".
The event will be followed by second preparatory meeting on “Challenges and Solutions for Inter-religious Coexistence in the Euro-Mediterranean” to be held in Albania from 26 to 29 October 2009.
