From 16th to 19th April 2009, the Anna Lindh Foundation will be present at the sixteenth annual meeting of the Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM) taking place this year in Cairo, Egypt.
The 2009 edition of COPEAM Conference is on the theme of ‘Union for the Mediterranean: the media action for a union of projects’ and will present an opportunity to consolidate and develop collaborations between the audiovisual media sector and the main multilateral actors operating in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
In this context, the Foundation’s Executive Director, Andreu Claret, and Secretary General of COPEAM, Alessandra Paradisi, are preparing to officially sign at the event a memorandum of understanding centred on initiatives which can promote the positive role of media in the region in creating a shared space of free and reliable information and opinion.
One of the first areas of collaboration will be on the Foundation’s ‘Mediterranean Journalist Award’ which will be presented at the international conference and expanded through COPEAM’s network to television and radio providers.
