Based in Barcelona, the IEMed is an actor in the dialogue between the EU and the Mediterranean countries, and centre of reflection and debate on Mediterranean societies, it is also the Spanish Head of the national network of the Anna Lindh Foundation. According to its role as a think-tank", it also contributes to the projection of Catalan and Spanish governmental institutions in the Mediterranean Area. Moreover, it encourages the involvement of civil society into the Barcelona Process, sustaining and promoting the development and interaction among Mediterranean networks.
To date, the Spanish network consists of 64 organizations. Most of these institutions work in the areas of education, youth, democracy, human rights, international relations, gender issues and research.
