Journalist Prize for Cultural Dialogue » About the Journalist Prize
The Euro-Med Journalist Prize for Cultural Dialogue rewards exceptional journalistic productions, contributing to open dialogue between cultures in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The international competition is organized by the Anna Lindh Foundation and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).
Working journalists nationals of one of the 37 Euro-Mediterranean countries can apply. The competition is aimed at encouraging journalism that effectively contributes to the ongoing dialogue between cultures and people by spreading awareness of diversity and tolerance. Another purpose is to stimulate European and Mediterranean journalists to take a fresh look at the richness of the shared culture and history in the region and its potential to positively shape our common future.
Winning articles will be selected on the basis of the professional quality and journalistic standard applied in research and writing, the originality of the contribution and the capacity of the writer to take on others’ perspectives and to inspire readers.
The jury will consist of outstanding journalists, journalism professors and intellectuals. Each year four winners will be selected, two from Europe and two from the partner countries in the southern Mediterranean. The winners will receive a trophy and an award of 5000 Euros for each.
The prizes will be handed over at a ceremony where high-level personalities at decision-making level, as well as renowned journalists and intellectuals in the Euro-Med region will be present.
The prize-winning articles will be published in a booklet with a foreword by the key-note speaker invited to open the prize ceremony that will be posted on the Foundation’s Website, the IFJ website and distributed to the members of its National Networks.
