Winner of the 2nd Edition of the Euro-Med Award for the Dialogue between Cultures
“Women and Men Hand in Hand for Gender Equality”
As per the Award’s regulations, the Presidency of the Jury (members are Cyprus, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Fondazione Mediterraneo, and the Executive Director of the Anna Lindh Foundation) shall prepare a short list of a maximum of 5 candidates to be submitted to the attention of the Heads of Network for selection of the winner. Then, the Presidency of the Jury shall announce the results of the election before the end of July.
The winners of the 2007 Euro-Med Award for Dialogue between Cultures are ex aequo:
The Presidency of the Jury has decided for an ex aequo prize for the following reasons:
- The first two classified finalists have almost reached the same score (11 and 10 votes respectively).
- The election of a woman and a man gives an added value to the Award, being the theme of this year “Women and Men Hand in Hand for Gender Equality”.
- The two winners have been working at two different levels: Mr. Willems at the grassroots level - working on women empowerment in the Middle East - and Ms. Tsagaropoulou at the institutional level - specifically in the European Parliament and in the Euro Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly.
An “honourable mention” will be given to the three other finalists, following the recommendation of several Heads of Network, which are:
